A little research, and it looks like this is how the APs do auto-meshing, so in theory, just disabling "Meshing" under each AP's settings in the Controller, and then under Settings > System > Advanced > Wireless Networking, disable the options for "Wireless Meshing" and "New WiFi Device Auto-Link", and the hidden SSID should disappear.. Recently switched to orbi pro's. 2 orbi pro's cover the property better inside and outside than 3 unifi ap's. The UX is the closest you'll get but it doesn't have the ability to handle hotel Captive portals. It also doesn't do WiFi as WAN and not every hotel offers wired Ethernet in rooms. 2.The speed test is conducted by the USG or UDM using the WAN interface. If you ssh to certain types of equipment you will be able to run something like iPerf3. This will allow you to test internal speeds to a degree. What I've generally found is that most devices have a better signal-to-noise ratio of about 5 dBs with the U7 Pro versus the U6-E. The cloudkey is just a unifi controller capable of unifi network and protect. The Ultra is ultra because it is both a gateway/router (Ubiquiti use gateway as another word for router) and a unifi controller however it only does network and not protect.I flashed with OpenWRT. I actually just used this same setup on vacation last week. I used a TP-Link WiFi Extender to connect to wifi, and plugged the lan from extender to my wan of a pfsense travel router. The provided wifi speed was only 50mb, and with the TPLink to pfsense, my speedtest consistently hit 44..
